9 weird things about me

Influenced by my friend Pat’s blog, here are 9 weird things about me…

  1. I hate salad – in fact it’s almost an obsession. I can even taste it in a sandwich that has been cut with a knife used to make one with salad.
  2. I like buses, have done since I was 8 years old. Most people fail to understand, but who cares…
  3. When I was younger, I was really shy about girls. Never really got to go out with one as a teenager because usually by the time I plucked up the courage to say something to a particular girl I liked, she’d tell me to sod off or just say “no”. 🙂
  4. I like an electronic band called Kraftwerk. Sometimes I think I’m the only one…
  5. I hate anything slimey that comes from the sea – oysters, welks, sea snails etc. Although I love fish (OK, they’re slimey too – but in a different way).
  6. I fart in bed. hehehe
  7. I have a fear of autoroutes/motorways when travelling on them. I have a sort of nasty attack when in the car – although these days I am learning to cope with that problem.
  8. Have a fear of heights – even just 6 foot off the ground (I am 6 foot 2, but I mean when my FEET are 6ft from the ground). I also don’t like to look up at high buildings when in a car, or put my car seat back. Gives me a sort of vertigo and a strange feeling in the back of my neck.
  9. And the last of all… it’s sometimes weird when I consider that I now live in France, with a wonderful girl, in a nice village, a nice house and now a baby on the way. Life for me in the UK before I met my girlfriend was awful for a number of reasons. Sometimes I think that my life here is all a dream…

  1. I guess it’s been a nightmare too, some of the time. But after a shaky start 9 years ago I try to look at the positive side.

  2. Hi Maryam,

Yep you have to stick with it. I remember when I first moved to France, when something just didn’t go right I was very tempted to go back home to the UK.

But I’ve been here for 9 and a half years now, with a wonderful girlfriend and now a baby on the way…
