More recently I’ve been listening to BBC Radio 2 online, they play nice music and I like their presenters.
On Halloween Night Stuart MacConie was standing in for Chris Evans, during the show he had an interview with Antonio Fargas (aka Huggy Bear from Starsky & Hutch) via telephone.
On this part of the show he asks the guest being interviewed some questions along the lines of “Who is happy and who is not happy today”. So one of the questions posed to Mr Fargas amazed me and got me tapping away to send an email to the show.
The question was “Are the French happy or not happy today?” To which the reply was “The French are not happy because less and less of them are celebrating Halloween because they think it’s gimicky!”.
Having spent that evening working outside and seeing posses of kids and parents “trick or treating” around the local neighbourhood – I was quick to point out to Mr MacConie that the French still celebrate Halloween – although they’ve only done so over the last 5 years or so.
After sending this off, Thumpah arrived home from work. I hadn’t told her that I’d sent something to the show, so it was a bit weird when my name was read out over the radio by Stuart along with my comment. A big grin split her face before she commented “Haven’t you got anything better to do than….?”
